About Us
Who
and What
We are an independent firm providing comprehensive, fee-only financial
planning and investment advisory services for individuals, families, and
small business owners. FFP is a Registered Investment Adviser licensed with
the State of Florida Office of Financial
Regulation and the State of Wisconsin Department
of Financial Institutions – Division of Securities.
Why choose Focused Financial Planning?
We are a relationship oriented firm, not transaction oriented. We
provide financial planning advice and counsel. We develop plans that are
tailor made to each client's particular situation. We do not sell products;
therefore, no income is generated through commissions. In order to provide
our clients with the most objective recommendations possible, we receive
income from clients in the form of fees only.
In all of our client engagements we use a disciplined approach
to the financial planning process in order to (1) develop coordinated,
comprehensive strategies, (2) recommend alternative courses of action, and
(3) help clients implement a well designed plan to address their needs.
Background/Qualifications
The firm was originally founded in Wisconsin in 1997 by William
Schaidt following the completion of the College of Financial Planning
CFP® Professional Education Program. In 2003 Bill passed the CFP®
comprehensive certification examination and in 2005 completed all the
requirements to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ mark.
Certified Financial Planner Board of
Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED
FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered
CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals
who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification
requirements.
In 2009 a second office was opened in Florida to provide financial
planning services to residents of that state. Business operations were
consolidated in the Florida office in 2010 and the firm continues to serve
clients from both states from its Florida location.
Prior to founding the firm Bill was employed for more than 25 years as a
corporate treasury professional specializing in the areas of global
liquidity, foreign exchange and interest rate risk, and short-term portfolio
management with two large multinational manufacturing companies located in
Wisconsin. He holds a degree in finance/management from The Cleveland State
University, Cleveland, OH and has taken additional course work in accounting
and taxation at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of
Wisconsin-Parkside. Bill is a member of the Financial Planning
Association and the Mid-Florida Estate Planning Council.
Over the years Bill has been involved as a volunteer fundraiser with the
Arthritis Foundation, taught a financial budgeting class and has held
numerous offices and committee positions in his local church.
Bill and his wife, Roberta, enjoy travelling and spending time with their
two adult daughters and their families.
